All Creatures Great and Small

Animals bring something special to our lives and give us inspiration for paintings that we will treasure. This workshop will concentrate on how to bring animals to life through color, lighting and good composition. Learn to paint fur, feathers and other animal skin textures in different situations. We will be working from photographs, so you will need to bring several good photos of your pets or wildlife animals, remember your only as good as your copy! Through demonstrations and lectures we will be covering good drawing fundamentals and of course everyones favorite, value! Working from a limited palette will give you lots of practice in color mixing and will keep your paintings in harmony.

This workshop will be at the studio for 5 days, limited to 8 students.  Guests can sign up for class only, but we recommend our retreat which includes cabin, 3 gourmet meals a day, and class.  Students will enjoy social interaction with Phil and Marty Beck at meals and bonfires, while enjoying our riverfront patio and cabins.  Students can also add activities including fishing, hiking, drift boat tours, whitewater rafting, winery excursions etc.
